No Grain Granola — What’s That?

Posted by on Jul 5, 2014 in Blog, Uncategorized

No-Grain Granola Square One of the most common questions we got at Farmers Markets was “What is No Grain Granola?” It’s a fair question, since granola typically contains oats. In fact, when the word first started being used it was a trademark for baked, crumbly whole grain cereals. No-Grain Granola takes that baked, crumbled breakfast cereal style but does it without the grains.

Our No-Grain Granola is high in protein, fiber, and healthy fats. It’s made with almonds, seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, flax and sesame), honey, dried apples, and coconut flakes. We use vanilla, salt, cinnamon, and coconut oil for extra flavor and to form the clumps. And that’s it — really! You can read more about the ingredients and health benefits here.

Katie (KIRFCo.’s founder), created the recipe because traditional cereal and granola had a huge effect on her blood sugar levels.

“I tried everything – even super high-fiber cereals, but no matter what, my blood sugar level would go way up then drop a couple hours later without fail. Even though I loved the taste and knew the ingredients were healthy (full of whole grains), I had to give it up.”

KIRFCo No-Grain Granola is great in yogurt, with milk or milk substitutes, or straight out of the bag as a quick snack. Mixing in some dark chocolate pieces and maybe some extra dried fruit and you’ve got a great trail mix.

How do you like our No-Grain Granola?

Hi. Your no-grain granola sounds great! Do you make it with other nuts? I’m allergic to almonds. 🙁

I purchased your no-grain granola due to a need for wheat and gluten avoidance. The taste is lovely! The texture is a bit unusual and will require an adjustment as I love the texture of traditional granola. However, it is a wonderful offering to the market place and so full of pure ingredients that excite me. Thank you for this great product!
