Chocolate, as you probably know, comes from cocoa beans, which are roasted, cracked, then ground and turned into chocolate liquor. That’s the point when cocoa butter, milk, sugar and other ingredients are added to make what we think of as chocolate. Cocoa nibs are pieces of cocoa beans after they’ve been roasted and cracked. Because they are relatively unprocessed, cocoa nibs pack an amazing nutritious punch and offer that chocolate taste (without the sugar found in most chocolate).
Cocoa contains a high level of antioxidants, which boost the immune-system and might help slow the effects of aging. Cocoa may help lower blood pressure and improve circulation and is a mild stimulate and mood enhancer. It also contains magnesium, iron and a number of other minerals that our bodies need.
